He is one of just a few plastic surgeons to have served on the Patient Registry and Outcomes for Breast Implants and Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL) Etiology and Epidemiology (PROFILE) Committee. This group focuses on looking at the safety of breast implants. He also serves on the Patient Safety Committee, Program Committee, Industry Exhibits Committee, and Electronic Communications Committee for The Aesthetic Society.

Background and education

Dr. Ali Qureshi completed his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was chosen to serve as class vice president. He completed his third-year medical training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, where he remained heavily involved in plastic surgery research. He even served as a medical student representative on the Committee on Publications that oversees the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.

Advanced training

His leadership and achievements led him to an appointment in the Integrated Plastic Surgery Program at Washington University in St. Louis, one of the most rigorous and competitive training programs in the country. At the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, he learned cutting-edge techniques in breast reconstruction and revisions of breast reconstructions and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

A published author and respected authority

Dr. Qureshi has authored over 18 first author, peer-reviewed publications, and is a Next Generation Editor for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, arguably the premier publication in aesthetic plastic surgery. The son and grandson of breast cancer survivors, Dr. Qureshi has published extensively on breast cancer reconstruction and quality of life after breast cancer, including topics of sexual distress in survivors. He is also the lead author on breast augmentation and breast lifts in the latest edition of the famous Grabb and Smith Plastic Surgery textbook, and the author of two chapters on avoiding complications and problems with combined breast augmentation and breast lifts.

In addition to his published works, Dr. Qureshi is a prestigious guest speaker on advanced breast surgical techniques.

One step further: Fellowships in plastic surgery and rhinoplasty surgery

To further his aesthetic plastic surgery and rhinoplasty training, Dr. Qureshi completed one of the top aesthetic surgery fellowships in the country at the USC MarinaRox Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship. He trained with world-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. W. Grant Stevens (who is responsible for coining the terms “mommy makeover” and “gummy bear implants”), where he learned state-of-the-art techniques.

His training included combined breast augmentation and breast lift and drainless tummy tucks. The next step in his journey was Beverly Hills, where he trained with Dr. Jay Calvert and Dr. Andrew Ordon in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, completing arguably the only rhinoplasty fellowship of its kind in the country for plastic surgeons. He is also board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons.
