Is There Any Downtime Associated With Dermaplaning?
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a simple yet highly impactful cosmetic procedure that involves gently “shaving” the top layer of the epidermis to reveal the younger, smoother skin that’s hiding underneath. Dermaplaning is also suited for drier skin types and anyone who wants to get rid of peach fuzz.
During this non-invasive procedure, our medical aesthetician will use a surgical scalpel to carefully scrape away dead skin cells, excess hair, and other impurities that may be dulling your complexion. The end result is radiantly smooth skin that looks brighter and clearer – and as an added bonus, it’s easier to apply makeup!
Is There Any Downtime Associated with Dermaplaning?
One of the biggest benefits to the dermaplaning treatment is that there’s no downtime or recovery process – in fact, after your procedure, you can go right back to your normal routine.
Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. dermaplaning is often performed to help prepare skin for more intrusive procedures such as microneedling, chemical peels and Hydrafacial.
However, there are a few things you’ll need to be aware of after your dermaplaning treatment:
- You’ll definitely need to wear sunscreen, as your newly revealed skin will be sensitive to the sun’s UV rays. Post skincare products including SPF will be applied after treatment is complete.
- Your skin may appear slightly flushed after your dermaplaning session; this is completely normal and usually disappears same day.
- You’ll be able to cover up any redness with makeup, but only use sunscreen after your procedure – it allows your newly revealed skin a chance to breathe!
