Is There Any Downtime With Body Contouring?
Are you interested in all of the different body contouring treatments out there, but not sure if you should opt for surgical or non-surgical body contouring?
For many patients, one of the biggest deciding factors is downtime associated with the procedure. That’s why we’ve broken down what you can expect in terms of downtime associated with surgical body contouring and non-surgical body contouring.
Take a look!
Downtime from Non-Surgical Body Contouring
Non-surgical body contouring is a lot less invasive than surgical body contouring, but the results often take longer to achieve. Non-surgical body contouring often comes in the form of CoolSculpting, SculpSure, EmSculpt, and other name-brand technologies that target fat cells via delivering energy through the dermal tissue. Targeted fat cells typically burst or become damaged, which prompts the body to remove them over a period of eight to twelve weeks.
There’s typically no downtime associated with non-surgical body contouring, which is why these treatments are popular with clients looking to lose inches without sacrificing their schedules.
Downtime from Surgical Body Contouring
Surgical body contouring – usually in the form of liposuction or an abdominoplasty procedure – carries a lot more downtime, as your body needs time to recover from invasive surgery. However, the results are often more immediately visible and closer to the patient’s desired goals.
While downtime differs from procedure to procedure, most patients can expect to spend at least one week out of work (two weeks if you’re in more of a manual job). During this time, you should arrange to have childcare and someone at home to help you get around, as movement will be limited.
After this downtime, you should expect to spend several weeks recovering from your body contouring procedure. Most patients will be able to exercise about four to six weeks after the procedure, while final results start to become visible around the six to eight-week mark.
My experience with Dr. Song and the whole office was beyond amazing. It was made clear that each member of his team cared about my feelings, well-being, and happiness!
