Average Recovery Time for Breast Augmentation Procedure
While every patient is different, most women can expect to spend about two weeks recovering from your breast augmentation procedure.
However, this doesn’t mean that you’ll need to take two weeks off from work or your everyday life. The most intensive recovery typically happens during the first several days after surgery, where you’ll need to minimize any strenuous activity. For that reason, we recommend that patients take several days to a week off work. If you have a more manual job (where you may be lifting heavy items), we recommend taking a full two weeks off.
What to Expect from Your Breast Augmentation Recovery
Breast augmentation recovery can be surprisingly fast, meaning you don’t need to experience a significant interruption to your daily life to get the bust size you’ve always wanted. Here are just a few things you can expect from your breast augmentation recovery:
- During the first week, you’ll be prohibited from lifting anything more than twenty pounds from off the floor. If you have young children, we recommend arranging for help during the first few days of your recovery.
- You’ll need to wear a front-opening bra for four weeks to help minimize swelling, as well as hold the new shape of your breasts.
- You should avoid sexual intercourse for the first two weeks after surgery to help minimize impact to your new breasts.
- You can start enjoying gentle walks immediately after surgery, and can resume all normal activities about two weeks after your surgery.
